Food Blog - New Favorite
I am so excited about finding this new food blog. It is perfect! It is only baked goods, but the blog is so perfect I'm willing to overlook that. The pictures are great. The layout is amazing! It's very well organized. The girl who does it is young and completely self-taught so it's impressive that way. The recipes are creative and the narration is interesting.
And best of all, the title has my lucky number in it. (I'm in love!)

Music: Melody Gardot
Along with actress Carey Mulligan, I fell in love with the musician Melody Gardot while watching the film An Education. She has a hauntingly beautiful, silky voice. Genre: jazzy, mellow blues similar to the 50's with a modern touch. (I don't normally like scatting - I love hers).
Her story is really interesting. She never planned on becoming a musician. Taken from Amazon, here is the story of how she got into singing professionally
It was only after an automobile accident while riding her bicycle home that the path Gardot has set out on began to change. Struck suddenly by a vehicle, she suffered multiple pelvic fractures, spinal, nerve and head injuries. Several of the effects have left their marks in various ways such as requiring Gardot to carry a cane and sport shaded glasses to combat residual photosensitivity.
Since Gardot had dabbled in music the past, during a follow up visit one day, her doctor suggested she try music therapy as a means for recovery. Specifically, he believed it would help her with her cognitive problems as music has been known to help repair neuropathways in the brain after severe trauma. However, her doctor can't have imagined the far-reaching consequences. While still unable to walk, Melody began writing and recording songs on a portable multitrack recorder at her bedside.
"I started recording the songs as a way to remember what I'd done; I had really bad short-term memory problems," she explains. "At the end of the day I couldn't remember the beginning".
I love My One and Only Thrill ("Your Heart is as Black as Night" is featured on An Education).

Carey Mulligan
This girl is so pretty. Not many people can pull of that kind of a pixie cut.
She is seriously stunning.
My husband and I watched her film "An Education" I loved it. He hated it.

More Anthropologie Art
I know I've only done one other post since my last Anthropologie art post, but I just love it all so much, I couldn't help but keep looking for more.
So here is some more:
So lovely. Don't doubt there will be more to come.

Anthropologie Installation Art (amazing... always.)
I love the book ones (just because I love reading so much)
It's actually pretty easy to do. It's just a simple folding technique.
The displays just go on and on... I'll add more later.
Food Blogs
The first plunge into a food blog is the best - everything is new, you look at almost every recipe and post with avid interest. However, each time after the is almost disappointing. Your interest steadily decreases. So, what do you you do? - You go and find new ones! But you always check up on the old ones every once in a while just to see their new posts.
So here are some of the food blogs I like:
The Kitchy Kitchen was my first food blog love. http://thekitchykitchen.blogspot.com/
The creator of this blog takes some nice pictures and she does her recipes are very inventive.
However, after I actually made a few recipes I quickly started loosing interest. They sound better than they usually taste, though that could be an altitude difference (she's in LA, I'm in Idaho). She also started doing these things called Cocktail Monday and Couture Cakes, both of which she does way too of much now... it's almost her entire blog.
The next blog I found was called 101 cookbooks. http://www.101cookbooks.com/
I really like the design of this website and the pictures are even better, but the layout kills me. I could never really get into it because the recipes are almost hard to find. It's not laid out like a blog is, with "previous page" buttons. I still haven't figured it out. Honestly, I'm not all that tech savvy. This blog is about the extent of my ability, and, as you can see, its not all that souped up either.
Then I found Smitten Kitchen (which my husband always calls "Smitten Kitten"...) http://smittenkitchen.com/
I still really like this blog. Not only does she update it frequently, but it is years and years old so it has hundreds of posts I haven't read yet. She is also the BEST food photographer I've found.
Not only are her pictures great, her recipes are interesting and her narration is clever. I have to admit though, I have yet to make a recipe of hers. I think I'm afraid of ruining a good thing.
I'm still exploring the Food Blog world; there are a lot out there and I'm pretty picky. But here is one final blog I recently found, my new love interest: http://simplyrecipes.com/
I haven't had much time to explore it, but, so far, this is my verdict: The photography is decent (not great, but decent). The recipes are inventive and come in a wide variety. And the layout is what makes it a winner. It is very, very well organized, and that wins big points from me.

Old French Style
I love old French style. I love the clothes, the food, the art. I love the music... though I only listen to it when my husband isn't home (he hates it).
Here are some examples of the old French style I love so much:

Before and After Furniture
Brought to you from http://www.designspongeonline.com/
They (the people at design sponge) are almost too skilled at renovating these pieces of furniture though. It's not very DIY friendly, but it is nice to look at and dream about.
